Mishawaka, Ind., February 23, 2023 –– U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-IN) joined AM General Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ryan DuRussel and United Auto Workers Local 5 leadership at AM General’s Mishawaka Manufacturing Campus (MMC) to learn about preparations being made on the heels of the recent announcement of the follow-on contract award to manufacture the U.S. Armed Forces’ Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) family of vehicles.

Shortly after Sen. Young’s tour of the facility that will house JLTV production, he and Mr. DuRussel spoke to a crowd of hundreds of factory workers and assembled media. “The skilled workers at AM General coupled with this world-class military production facility will ensure a smooth transition for the production of the next generation of JLTV vehicles,” said Sen. Young. “The preparation and dedication by the entire team positions them very well to begin the manufacturing process to meet a tight timeline and will ensure that the JLTV program will keep evolving. The addition of hundreds of Hoosier jobs as AM General expands will have a far-reaching positive impact to the entire area.”

“We are incredibly grateful for Senator Young’s leadership and support,” said AM General Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ryan DuRussel. “He’s always been a key advocate of the HUMVEE program, and we look forward to continuing that relationship as we ramp up the JLTV program.”

The JLTV will be produced in a dedicated military production facility at their 96-acre Mishawaka Manufacturing Campus (MMC). MMC features an onsite test track where JLTVs will undergo testing in a dynamic operating environment. These dedicated facilities underpin the company’s readiness to execute a smooth transition for JLTV production, quality testing, and delivery. Deliveries are expected to begin 17 months after contract award.
