MV-1 PRODUCER MOBILITY VENTURES LLC obtains Member Status with the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association

AM General’s wholly owned subsidiary, Mobility Ventures LLC, today announced that it is now an official member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), a non-profit trade association of mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, driver rehabilitation specialists and related professionals.

Mobility Ventures produces the MV-1 – the only American-built vehicle specifically designed from the ground up to meet or exceed the needs of wheelchair passengers and the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The MV-1 fills a significant void in consumer, government and livery fleet markets while providing unsurpassed accessibility, safety and comfort for its passengers.

“We are pleased to become a member in NMEDA, a national organization that reflects Mobility Ventures’ commitment to improving the quality, safety and reliability of accessible transportation,” said Rick Smith, AM General Executive Vice President and President of Mobility Ventures LLC. “We look forward to working with NMEDA as Mobility Ventures continues to grow its MV-1 dealership network across the United States. Our goal is for each MV-1 consumer dealer to be a NMEDA member and to become accredited in its industry-leading Quality Assurance Program.”

Built at AM General’s world-class, 675,000 square-foot Commercial Assembly Plant in Mishawaka, Ind., the MV-1 is universally designed, allowing people of all abilities equal access to a reliable, safe and inclusive transportation option. The MV-1 meets all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) direct from the factory requiring no further modifications. Additionally, the MV-1 is more durable and cost effective to own and operate than a traditional retrofitted van or bus, as validated by its existing user community. The MV-1 is dedicated to safely transporting all passengers – with or without mobility challenges – making it the perfect solution for both consumers and commercial fleet services.

The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) was founded in 1989 as a non-profit trade association. NMEDA supports more than 600 mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers and driver rehabilitation specialists in the U.S. and Canada who are dedicated to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities. NMEDA also sponsors National Mobility Awareness Month in May. For more information, please visit www.nmeda.com, as well as Facebook and Twitter.
