Engine


The JLTV A2 is equipped with a new 2024MY engine that is improved over the now obsolete A1 engine.

This engine is the same one that powers commercial heavy-duty trucks.

Fuel Economy / Efficiency


New transmission gear coding improves shifting, optimizing fuel efficiency without compromising performance. This enhancement extends range so SGT Smith can drive longer distances without refueling.

Battery Technology


One lithium-ion battery replaces the two older, heavier, and bulkier lead acid batteries. The new battery system is a part of an enhanced electrical architecture that also prepares the vehicles for future hybridization.

Corrosion Protection


In response to corrosion issues found in numerous A1 vehicles, the JLTV A2 incorporates additional corrosion protection to critical automotive systems. This measure prevents the cracking and breaking of crucial structural areas and increases reliability.

A new baseline integration kit provides more room and cargo space, while redesigned interior and exterior features enhance usability. Reconfigured electrical harness routings and fuel lines improve accessibility and improve maintenance.

    POWERTRAIN

    Powered by the latest MY 2024 L5P Duramax with an enhanced Engine Control Module (ECU) driven with an Allison 2500, Gen 6 Transmission Control Module (TCU) provides the new JLTV A2 with fuel efficiency technology enhancements that substantially reduce fleet operational costs without compromising performance.


    The Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) was also redesigned to enhance belt service life.

    The baseline integration kit is designed to optimize the kit packaging space to provide more cargo storage space for essential mission equipment.
    Noise Reduction
    Various improvements are designed to reduce vehicle operational noise heard by the operators inside and outside the vehicle.
    ELECTRICAL
    Simplified electrical architecture featuring a lithium-ion battery preparing the vehicle's electrical architecture for future growth and hybridization.

    Smart power distribution unit to better manage and control the vehicle system’s electrical loads.

    Upgraded alternator which incorporates the necessary communications features required with the usage of Li-Ion battery(s).

    Improved fuel/airline and electrical harness routings for enhanced reliability against wear and optimized accessibility to improve the overall vehicle's maintainability.
