Chadbourne
John Chadbourne leads AM General as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He joined AM General in July 2018 and was previously responsible for driving enterprise growth and operational execution, providing leadership across programs, and various external-facing departments to deliver value throughout the full lifecycle of AM General products and services. In addition to his 30-year career as an Army Officer, Chadbourne’s depth of knowledge with complex organizations and battlefield experience provide him with the needed expertise to achieve the company’s objectives.
As the company’s lead executive for growth, he ensured strong alignment between strategy, capture, and execution, leading cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, secure new business, and deliver customer commitments. He also oversaw government relations and marketing, ensuring coordinated engagement with federal, state, and international stakeholders while reinforcing AM General’s market positioning and brand as a global leader in military vehicle full life-cycle support.
Prior to joining AM General, John completed a 30-year career as a Logistics Officer in the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Colonel. His experience spans logistics, sustainment, and program management at every echelon, from platoon through brigade command. His senior leadership assignments included serving as Director of Joint Logistics (J4) for all U.S. Forces in Afghanistan and Director of Materiel in the Headquarters of the Army (G-8).
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of North Georgia, a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Army War College. Additionally, John serves on the Board of Directors of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). His professional qualifications include designation as a Certified Professional Logistician by the International Society of Logistics and a Level II Program Management Certification from the Defense Acquisition University. His military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, Airborne School, Support Operations Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. In 2025, John was inducted into the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps Hall of Fame, which recognizes and memorializes persons who have made a positive, significant contribution to the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps.
