In Community + Industry by Chad

(Washington, D.C. — January 16, 2019) – Today, global vehicle solutions provider for commercial and military customers, AM General, shared its pioneering technologies with Knollwood residents by donating an MV-1 to the Army Distaff Foundation (ADF). The MV-1 is designed and built for wheelchair accessibility from the ground up.

“The Army Distaff Foundation is honored to receive such a generous donation from AM General. We’re excited to be able to offer this to our residents as we continue to provide the most innovative, person-centered care to officers that have retired from the Uniformed Services and their families. It’s just one more way we can say thank you for their service and sacrifice for our country,” said James R. Michels, Director of Development for the Army Distaff Foundation.

Every aspect of this purpose-built vehicle is engineered and thoughtfully designed for people with mobility challenges. Features like the extra-wide passenger door opening, an integrated in-floor ramp and a floor-to-ceiling height of nearly five feet make the MV-1 unlike any vehicle on the road today.

“Our various projects keep us well connected to the military community and we’re proud to offer our specialized vehicles to servicemen and women across the globe,” said Andy Hove, President and CEO of AM General. “It means a lot to us to continue our dedicated service to the military by providing this vehicle to the Army Distaff Foundation where they serve the officers that served our country and those officers’ families.”

ADF chases solutions at the intersection of healthcare and innovation. Through meaningful partnerships, ADF offers care for older Americans that is worthy of their service to our nation. Learn more about the mission and values of ADF at armydistaff.org.
