Humvee, HUMMER H1 and HUMMER H2 ISO Registration
AM General's HMMWV/H1 and HUMMER H2 assembly plants have achieved ISO9001:2000
registration from the Quality Management
Institute (QMI), an internationally recognized independent registrar
company.
QMI evaluates a company's ability to meet specific quality program standards.
The ISO 9001 standard, one of a series adopted by the International Organization
for Standardization in 1987, is internationally recognized and establishes
the requirements for a company's quality system. AM General has had registration
to an ISO standard since 1993.
The newest 2000 revision emphasizes a customer satisfaction process
approach and continuous improvement.
HMMWV/H1 Assembly Plant Quality Policy
AM General's commitment to quality begins and ends with the customer.
Our business integrates a set of processes with the goals of improving
the safety and well-being of employees and increasing the level of customer
satisfaction in products and services through continual improvement.
HUMMER H2 Assembly Plant Quality Policy
Quality begins and ends with the customer. Our goal is to exceed customer
expectations through continuous improvement and teamwork.
General Engine Products LLC Registration
General Engine Products LLC, a subsidiary of AM General, is currently
registered to QS-9000: 1998. QS-9000 is a worldwide standard that applies
within the automotive industry, including specific requirements for General
Motors, Ford and Chrysler. QS-9000 requirements exceed those established
in the ISO Standards and are required of all suppliers within the U.S.-based
Automotive Industry. The scope of GEP QS-9000 registration encompasses
the assembly and distribution of diesel engines.
Det Norske Veritas, a leading international
registrar, originally recommended GEP for registration to QS-9000 in February
2001. QS-9000 registration validates that a Quality Management System
is implemented that improves overall quality, organizational performance
and profitability.
